Convert your images and marketing messages into high-impact video ads using the YouTube Video Builder tool.
The tool, still in beta (request access here), is aimed at small-time marketers or businesses who want to get the word out quickly about an upcoming promotion or want to advertise new timings, but lack the creative agency to do so.
In the style of typical video builders, the YouTube Video Builder also comes with a set of ready-to-use templates. Upload your images and the tools will animate them for you. Write your marketing message and the tool will add text transitions for you. All this means that you end up with a quick 6-second or 15-second video ad for your brand with minimal creative investment.
In a way, this blessing couldn’t have come at a better time. Now that everyone is under lockdown, businesses with less multimedia experience are finding it difficult to get their creatives done right and done on time.
And you can forget about hiring a model to star in your ad!
“With this tool, any business who needs a video can create one that helps connect with their customers and keep them informed — whether through an advertising campaign, website, or email.”
Director, Product Management,
With whatever assets you have on hand, anyone with minimal creative experience can quickly create an ad. Just because nobody’s buying doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t advertise. Advertising now is more important than ever to keep your brand memory alive.
And video ads, with their superior engagement rates, have proven to be conversion-monsters. So, register for the beta today and you can tinker around with the tool.
Yes, you can add music too. You get access to YouTube’s music library that includes thousands of copyright-free music.
Once your request for beta access has been approved, head over to http://director.youtube.com/videobuilder
YouTube is yet to grant us access to the tool, so we can’t show you any screenshots for now :(
But if you’ve used tools like Lumen5 before, then you already know the process.
Select a template from the gallery.
Choose a brand color.
Upload your brand logo and the images you want to use for the video. As you upload new images, use the “Storyboard” panel at the bottom of Video Builder to preview the layout of the video.
Add text or CTAs to your video. You can use all the fonts available on the Google Fonts Catalog.
Next, choose a music track from the audio library and click on “Create Video.”
You need to select the channel where you want to upload the video, and then click “Save video.”
To make edits to the video, go to your YouTube Studio and click on “Edit video.”
Videos created using Video Builder can only be uploaded on YouTube. It makes sense because any asset generated by YouTube belongs to YouTube.
You also need to steer clear from using assets you don’t own the right to. This can lead to a content claim against your ad. This should be common sense, but YouTube takes content claims very seriously.
You cannot force line breaks on the text field. Then again, this is a common complaint against automated tools.
Go for it. It’s free. There’s nothing to lose.
Given today’s marketing scenario where everyone is forced to make do with whatever tools that are available to them, YouTube’s Video Builder is certainly a welcome addition. Add to it the fact that it’s completely free to use and has all requisite features. And that makes it a product that you should definitely check out.
